Women. Health. Empowerment.
Our safaris take us through some of Tanzania's wildest places. But being part of this country means caring for the people and communities who call it home.
We partner with Mwandamo Women to support better health outcomes for women and girls across Northern Tanzania — through education, care and the confidence to advocate for their own health.
Every Tanzania Horse Safaris journey includes a contribution to Mwandamo.
Supporting Women through Knowledge and Care
Tanzania Horse Safaris is proud to partner with Mwandamo Women, a Tanzanian organisation working to transform women's health through education and compassionate care.
Mwandamo believes that every woman deserves to understand her body, have access to reliable health information and feel confident advocating for the care she needs.
When you book a safari with us, an included donation helps support Mwandamo's work.
Your journey therefore contributes not only to an extraordinary experience in Tanzania, but to something that reaches beyond the trail.
Mwandamo
A name rooted in Tanzania
Mwandamo means lunar in Kiswahili.
The Mwandamo logo carries its own connection to Northern Tanzania. The large M represents Mwandamo, with a smaller W within it for Women.
The two outer peaks of the M represent Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro, while the central peak of the W represents Arusha, nestled between the two.
The shape also resembles a crown — a symbol of honouring women as queens — while incorporating the ancient Berkana Rune, associated with birth, fertility and femininity.
Why it Matters & What it Does
A woman's health affects more than herself.
When women have access to knowledge, support and appropriate care, the benefits extend into families and communities.
Mwandamo's work is about more than providing information. It is about helping women feel heard, respected and confident enough to make informed decisions about their own health.
That is the kind of change we believe is worth supporting.
WOMEN'S HEALTH EDUCATION
Creating spaces where women and girls can openly learn about their bodies, menstrual health, reproductive health and wellbeing.
WOMEN'S CIRCLES
Bringing women together in safe, supportive spaces to connect, share experiences and learn from one another.
ACCESS TO CARE
Supporting communities and healthcare facilities to improve access to essential women's and maternity care.
COMMUNITY HEALTH
Working with Community Health Officers who are embedded within local communities, helping Mwandamo reach women with trusted, culturally sensitive health information.
