A life lived on horseback
We are Jo and Hansi, the couple behind Tanzania Horse Safaris.
Together with our two children, our wonderful horses and all the four-legged friends that have become part of our lives, we have built Tanzania Horse Safaris around something very simple: our love for horses, wild places, adventure and the freedom of exploring Tanzania on horseback.
We both love being outdoors and have always been drawn to adventure. We love polo, riding, wildlife and the thrill of being somewhere wild and remote. We are, in many ways, a little bit adrenaline-driven—but we also believe that the best adventures are those where everyone feels safe, looked after and confident enough to truly enjoy themselves.
Exploring, rather than following a map
For us, a horse safari is not about following a fixed route from one camp to the next.
We love getting out there and exploring. We look for new areas, follow the seasons, discover different landscapes and, whenever possible, take the less-travelled route. Some of our favourite days are the ones where there is no perfectly planned road ahead of us—just the horses, the wilderness and the feeling of wondering what is around the next corner.
That spirit of exploration is at the heart of what we do.
